.) A major problem in Austin is the housing, timing to the core of the city and the cost to live there. The latest Austin land development rule increases the potential for increase-restricted affordable housing by nearly six times the amount allowed in the current code. Many council members try to find a solution and how they can cut the cost of living around and closer to the core.
The idea is to provide more housing in Austin's urban core. This can happen by encouraging development with more units., especially in zones between major corridors and neighborhoods filled with single family homes.
.)More affordable housing in Austin could help the homeless population. The homeless population is massively increasing mostly downtown. More affordable housing can help a little bit.
.) Right now, 5,600 acres of land can be developed with affordable housing programs meaning developers can build properties with more units.
.) I believe that as you go words the city everything gets more expensive and a small apartment could cost a lot. so many hours and apartments are overpriced but In our area my area I do not believe they are overpriced at all. I am a little biased because I am lucky enough to live In a nicer neighborhood but I still believe that the houses could cost a lot more.
.) I'm very lucky that a housing issue has not affected me. But housing issues affect many people in Austin and students, the way I think about It everyone should have a roof over their head.
.) If I were a Austin City Council member a suggestion I would make for bringing more affordable prices to Austin's core not having the price as much but still a little based of the location and more about the quality. At the core of the city the houses and apartments cost lots but they are not the best quality where as in the suburbs the houses are much nicer and should be worth more I feel.
