Self Portrait and Portraits Intro

1.) Looking off camera – have your subject focus their attention on something unseen and outside the field of view of your camera. This can create a feeling of candidness and also create a little intrigue and interest as the viewer of the shot wonders what they are looking at.

2.) Looking within the frame – alternatively you could have your subject looking at something (or someone) within the frame.

3.) Play With Backgrounds

The person in your portrait is the main point of interest – however sometimes when you place them into different contexts with different backgrounds you can dramatically alter the mood in a shot.

Environmental Portraits
I liked this photo because it reminded me of me when I was younger. I had the same bed and sheets as the girl in the picture. I chose this picture because it captures a little girl day dreaming really well. The picture has a happy tone that makes you like it more,

I like this picture because it captures the moment very well and brings you into the picture. I chose this picture because it shows the artist in his natural environment and really shows who he is.

Self Portraits
I liked and chose this picture because the idea of bringing the light and white into the dark photo using flowers. I think it was smart to have everything she was wearing to be white and everything else dark. It balances the photo.

I really liked this photo because of how creative it was using the mirror to replace the woman eyes using eyes facing forward. It is very unusual but very artistic.

Casual Portrait
I like this picture a lot because of the lighting. I chose it because the picture is so simple but looks really artistic and creative playing with the colors and lighting.
I like and chose this picture because the picture seems so bland and regular but the boys blue eyes bring in new elements making the picture more alive.

For our portrait shoot assignment I plan on shooting my mom. My mom is one of the most important parts of my life and I think shooting her will really show that. I plan on shooting all my photos in and around my house. For inside my house I want to use the natural light my house gets and the creative colors and elements my house also has. For pictures outside of my house I want to show the warm environment of my neighborhood. To make my shoot successful I want to get the most out of the lighting and framing. I want to be very creative and unusual with my photos without making the photo to loud or crowded.
