The Hopkins Men's Lacrosse team has had 1 win and 1 loose so far this season. Teams have not set to go to the playoffs yet but each year playoff teams battle for the National Lacrosse League Cup. The Calgary Roughnecks won the 2019 NLL.  The first rule used is that only the goalie can touch the ball with their hands, other players must use a stick to carry, pass and shoot the ball. another rule is that a body check is and can only be contact from the front between the waist and the shoulders. The last rule you need to know is there are 10 players on the field at once. 4 are on the defensive side, 3 must be on the offensive side and 3 can go wherever on the field. A Body Check - Defensively using your body to hit an opposing player who has the ball or contesting an opposing player for a loose ball.
Cradling - Players turning their arms and wrists to cradle the ball in the sticks pocket in order to maintain control of the ball. Pick - An offensive player without the ball positions himself against the body of a defender to allow a teammate to get open and receive a pass or take a shot. Picks must be stationary and ‘passive’. One example of a sports cliche usually associated with Lacrosse is that the teams are made of rich kids and coaches. You could say that Lacrosse is very well funded. Paul Rabil is one of the greatest American lacrosse players of all time. He was born in Gaithersburg, Maryland in 1985. He attended DeMatha Catholic High School and went on to play for Johns Hopkins. He's played for many teams including Hopkins, Philadelphia wings, San Jose Stealth and more. He's won more than 30 awards during his career and held the world record for the fastest lacrosse shot until it was broken in 2015.
