Last Wednesday at 10pm, a 53 year old woman by the name of Janice Jones was shot in the leg by her pet dog Tombo. "When I had learned what had happened at the scene, I was shocked. It's not everyday something like this happens," California Highway Patrol Press Liaison Tammy Rye says. A ccording to Rye , Jones was eating pork chops in the back of her motor home, which was parked on Beach Boulevard near Highway 1 when her dog knocked her 9 mm handgun off a seat. The weapon discharged when it hit the floor, and the bullet passed through Jone's leg and through the side of the vehicle according to Rye. "It could have been a lot worse," Rye said."The bullet hit two inches from the gas tank," she adds. If the bullet hit the gas tank, it could have exploded and resulting in many deaths.
